powers addresses human rights conference on future of glbt issues in north dakota

END chair Gina Powers co-presented a session at the recent conference of the North Dakota Human Rights Coalition on the future of the fight for GLBT equality in North Dakota in light of the passage of Measure 1 on the November 2004 ballot.  Read the coverage in The Forum (Fargo) by clicking here.

2005 north dakota legislative session

No legislation specifically affecting the GLBT community in North Dakota was introduced this session.  However, the legislature once again refused to establish an independent human rights commission and to repeal the state's archaic law against cohabitation.

north dakota constitutional amendment to prohibit same-sex marriage, civil unions and other legal protections for gay and lesbian couples

Even though Measure #1 was passed by the voters of North Dakota, the GLBTA community in our state has emerged from this election stronger, more organized, and more unified than ever before.  With the generous help of our supporters, we were able to mount a statewide advertising campaign against Measure #1, and our message of fairness reached every corner of the state.  The fight for full equality for GLBT North Dakotans hasn't ended; it's just begun!
